Are you thinking, many parents go through sending their kids to college, so why am I feeling so many different emotions? I should be so happy—my kid is excited for college, and this is such a fun time in their life with the last game, prom, barbecues, and celebrations.
The truth is, sending your child to college is a major life transition, and it’s completely natural to experience a mix of emotions.
To feel supported and better prepared, join family therapist Molly Carroll and college counselor Sophia Basurto for an evening of information and guidance on navigating this exciting yet emotional journey of launching your child to college.

Molly Carroll is a therapist, coach, published author, speaker, and devoted mother of two. With 30 years of experience in education and mental health, Molly has dedicated her career to helping individuals transform their lives. She is the author of Cracking Open: A Creative Journal for Self-Transformation (2015) and Trust Within: Letting Intuition Lead (2017).
Molly is also an accomplished public speaker, having worked with companies such as Apple, Hydro Flask, Sojern, and LinkedIn. She has delivered two TED Talks and leads a transformative coaching program for women. Additionally, Molly hosts the Cracking Open with Molly Carroll podcast, where she engages in heartfelt conversations that inspire growth, healing, and deeper connection. Her goal is to help others face fears, build connections, and embrace healing. Through her books, Cracking Open and Trust Within, she reassures people they’re not alone and guides them toward self-discovery, intuition, and transformation.

Sophia Basurto
College Admissions Consultant | Essay Guru | Mom
Sophia helps students confidently navigate every step of the college application process. From high school course and activity planning to building a balanced college list and providing essay and application support, she guide students in crafting strong, authentic applications that highlight their unique strengths.
Sophia holds a Certificate in College Counseling from UCLA (with Distinction), an MBA from the University of Florida, and is a certified essay coach through WOW Writing Workshop. She is also actively involved in the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), staying up to date on the latest trends and best practices in college admissions. Her goal is to build close, supportive relationships with students and families, working together to confidently navigate the college admissions journey.
