College List Counselor Bend Oregon

2025 in Review

As I wrap up another year, I am feeling incredibly grateful. Helping students and families navigate the college process is the most meaningful part of what I do and keeps me closely connected to the constantly evolving college admissions landscape. 2025 was a busy year, in the very best way/

Campus travel was a major focus and remains an important way I stay current and effective as a college counselor. In January, I visited Santa Clara University, a college many of my students attend and absolutely love, along with Saint Mary’s College of California. February took me to Arizona, where I toured the Arizona State University Tempe campus and Grand Canyon University. In March, I spent time in Southern California visiting USC, Loyola Marymount University, Chapman, the University of San Diego, and UC San Diego. I closed out the year in November with visits to the University of Chicago and Lake Forest College. Being on campuses allows me to guide students more thoughtfully, build stronger and more strategic college lists, and understand fit, culture, and opportunity beyond rankings and acceptance rates.

One of the highlights of the year was attending the IECA Conference in May, where I had the opportunity to learn alongside some of the top independent educational consultants in the country. While there, I toured the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Grand Valley State University, and Hope College. Being on campus and engaging directly with admissions teams and students provides a level of understanding that cannot be replicated through online research alone.

Beyond campus travel, one of the most rewarding parts of this year was working with students in our community. I began volunteering at Ridgeview High School, where it has been incredible to collaborate with Jill McNulty, the College & Career Center Coordinator. In the spring, I helped give juniors an overview of the admissions process, and in the fall helped to support seniors with their applications.

Watching students grow in confidence and clarity as they move through this process is the most rewarding part of what I do. As I look ahead to 2026, I am inspired and ready for another year of helping students find their best-fit colleges and take their next big steps.

Thank you to the families, students, counselors, and colleagues who made 2025 such a special year. Here’s to continued growth, new campus visits, and many more college acceptances to celebrate!
